So I ran a thumbnail test recently, and the results were kind of surprising… They almost look the same, but the test results… For two thumbnails that are so similar, a 40% to 60% difference is crazy. I haven’t seen that big of a gap with thumbnails before, even when they’re totally different. I didn’t really have a reason to run this test other than I was updating my style across all my videos and thought, what the hell, why not? If you can’t spot the difference, I don’t blame you. I can barely tell them apart. Here they are side by side. Changes I made: - Border is now bright yellow- Border doesn’t glow- Text is bolder- Background is darker (closer to black for more contrast)I also kept the title the same during the test and the performance was steady. Honestly, I don’t really have a theory for why the difference is this big, other than slightly better contrast and readability. But even that feels almost negligible. For science, I’m going to run the test again. If I don’t report back later, please remind me. If you haven’t seen the video yet, you can check it out here.
